Why swimming?

Swimming is a great exercise for everyone.  It improves cardiovascular fitness (thus improving heart and lung function), strength, endurance, flexibility and balance.

Swimming is a life skill and studies have shown that learning to swim from a young age provides long term benefits in confidence, social recognition as well as physical and cognitive development. Participating in parent and baby classes between the ages of 6 to 12 months is also a great way to build coordination and confidence in the water while learning water safety skills at the same time.

Benefits of enjoyable baby swimming programs / water familiarisation programs:

  • Allows your child to become comfortable in the water and creates a love for water.

  • The earlier you introduce babies to water, the less likely they are to develop a fear for water. Babies like water.  Fear for water develops as kids grow.

  • Swimming improves cardiorespiratory function, muscle development, coordination, balance and overall development of your child.

  • It creates a healthy appetite.

  • It facilitates more stable sleeping patterns.

  • Learning confidence in the water helps your child to swim independently from a younger age.

  • Learning important basic swimming skills and techniques before he/she reaches the toddler years.

  • Learning a life skill which they can use forever.

  • The water activities are relaxing, massaging and therapeutic for you baby.

  • It provides precious time to bond with your child.
